- Venue – High School Auditorium
- Size – 600+ seats
- Role – General Tech Crew + Lighting
This is the biggest show of the year at my school. It’s always in Spring and always a themed cabaret show. The show typically runs for 3 days with four shows, plus a shortened version for school students. We usually have 10-12 weeks to prepare.
This was my seventh production, but it was the first one after I decided I wanted to study technical theater at university.
As an experienced member of the tech crew, I had a lot more freedom to choose what I worked on. We also had a new Technical Director who brought a lot of new ideas.
Set pieces and props I worked on/built:
- Posters used to decorate the set
- A large wheeled bed (a key set piece)
- A newspaper stand
- Multiple small props
Most pieces were made from wood, plywood, newspaper and canvas. I also painted many of the set pieces and props.
Lighting:
- Designed multiple cues
- Provided feedback/input on all other scenes
- Operated lights and followed cue sheets during rehearsals and live performances.
