This was the second performance of the summer at the Community College of Rhode Island. I was invited back after working on “Comedy of Errors”. Unlike Comedy of Errors, Richard III is one of Shakespeare’s serious plays. Very dramatic!
The lighting board was the same Nomad physical controller I’d operated for Comedy of Errors. Like before, the cues were already programmed, and I followed directions from the Stage Manager. I also helped with the startup and shutdown process for the production each day.
The cast and crew welcomed me back and I felt quite at home. I also learned more useful ideas to use in other productions.
For example, they had a smart way to attach lights to the lighting gantry that seemed a lot safer than the way I was used to.
