- Venue – Blackbox Theatre, Community College Rhode Island
- Size – 200+ seats
- Role – Lighting Board Operator (intern)
I was recommended by the President of my school for a lighting internship at the Community College of Rhode Island’s (CCRI) theatre program during the summer of 2025. This was the first performance of the summer, and a fun play to be involved with.
The lighting board was a Nomad-brand physical controller. The cues were already programmed, and I followed directions from the Stage Manager. Once I got up to speed, I helped with the startup and shutdown process for the production each day.
The cast and crew were extremely welcoming and I learned some useful ideas to use in other productions. For example, they had a simple set of code words used when talking on the headsets so people always knew who was being talked to. This eliminated a lot of the confusion and chatter I was used to from my school productions.
